SUSTAINABLE EMPLOYABILITY

BOAL INVESTS IN SUSTAINABLE EMPLOYABILITY

At BOAL Extrusion, sustainable and above all safe working practices are high on the agenda. That’s why we continuously seek ways to improve the wellbeing of our employees. A recent step in that direction is our investment in the HAP exoskeleton, a smart solution that reduces physical strain and helps prevent back problems.

Why an Exoskeleton?

Work at our extrusion site in De Lier can be physically demanding, especially on the back. Back pain is among the most common physical complaints in physically intensive professions. That’s why our HR department, together with R&D, tested the HAP exoskeleton, focusing on the following benefits:

  • Active back support during lifting and prolonged physical exertion

  • Prevention of complaints such as muscle strain and fatigue

  • Promotion of long-term sustainable employability

Although the positive effects are not yet fully measurable in quantitative terms, the subjective experience of our colleagues is crystal clear: less physical strain, more enjoyment at work!

“Together with HR, we carefully evaluated the exoskeleton. From a technical perspective, we looked at ease of use, ergonomics, and practical applicability within BOAL. After conducting physical tests with several of our colleagues, the decision was made fairly quickly. The exoskeleton is a smart and feasible innovation that truly provides the support our people need for physically demanding daily tasks.”

How Does the HAP Exoskeleton Work?

The HAP exoskeleton is designed to support the body’s natural movement. Through intelligent use of mechanical assistance, it takes over part of the physical load during heavy work , without restricting freedom of movement. Employees remain mobile and flexible, while their backs are actively relieved.

What Does This Mean for Our People?

This investment is more than a technical innovation, it’s a promise to our employees. It shows that their health and working conditions are a priority. By investing in their wellbeing, we help ensure:

  • Lower risk of absenteeism

  • Increased job satisfaction

  • Longer and healthier careers

“It’s great to see that BOAL genuinely listened to our feedback and acted on it. That’s how the exoskeleton came about. Now that I get to use it, I really notice the difference. The exoskeleton provides just that bit of extra support, so I feel physically less tired at the end of the day.”

At BOAL, we believe that sustainable employability begins with taking good care of one another. After all, only then can we truly achieve success together.
