Fabrique Invent & BOAL Extrusion

A sustainable partnership in every aspect

What happens when you combine technical precision, sustainable ambition, and creative innovation? You get a partnership that has thrived effortlessly for more than 30 years and continues to deliver surprising results today.

For decades, BOAL Extrusion NL and Fabrique Invent have complemented each other in the journey from idea to aluminum profile. This is not just a business relationship, but a partnership built on trust, flexibility, and the shared drive to create smart, sustainable solutions. Exactly what you would expect when looking for tailor‑made aluminum profiles.

From idea to profile - We make it happen, together

Fabrique Invent translates complex product ideas into technically sound, sustainable designs for companies without their own R&D department, as well as for organisations seeking an independent review of their existing designs. BOAL Extrusion then brings these designs to life as custom aluminum profiles, with a focus on manufacturability and sustainability. Together they form a reliable chain in which expertise, process guidance, and production seamlessly connect. “For years we have worked with Fabrique Invent on increasingly complex aluminum profile solutions for a wide range of applications,” says Elke Tabak‑Keller, Senior Account Manager at BOAL Extrusion. “Together with the client, Niels Schouten (Managing Director of Fabrique Invent) and his team come to us to assess the feasibility of a design in terms of aluminum extrusion.”

“That’s right,” adds Niels. “To achieve a high‑quality and therefore sustainable solution, it is essential to align closely from the start and verify that our ideas are technically feasible for extrusion. It is a pleasure to collaborate with a partner who truly listens and maintains short communication lines.”

Elke: “Niels and his team know our extrusion process inside out. Because our team is compact, they know exactly who to approach with technical questions.” Niels: “The extrusion experts at BOAL always take the time to critically review the design. They ask the right questions and carefully discuss all requirements. Sometimes this leads to simplification or refinement of the design - always to the client’s advantage.”

Elke: “Only once we are certain everything is correct do we commission a die. At the first trial press we aim to be as close as possible to the desired end result. Any adjustments can be made in‑house, saving both time and budget.”

"Together we have been building innovation, trust and sustainable solutions for more than 30 years."

Aluminium, a sustainable alternative

Designing a high‑quality profile is never an overnight process. “Sometimes it takes weeks or even months before we reach the first trial press,” explains Huib Brinkman, Head of the Drawing Office. “For the client, it is reassuring that Fabrique Invent manages the process and acts as a reliable intermediary. This keeps the pace up and allows the client to focus on other projects. A win‑win for everyone.”

BOAL Extrusion specializes in aluminum extrusion using 6000‑series alloys, including 6060 and 6063, widely applied in Fabrique Invent’s designs. “Aluminum is a fantastic alternative to stainless steel or regular steel,” says Niels. “It is increasingly used across industries. It is lightweight, strong, corrosion‑resistant, and infinitely recyclable. Compared to steel or stainless steel, it offers greater design freedom and a lower ecological footprint.”

With growing attention to CO₂ reduction, that footprint is becoming ever more important. BOAL responds with its BLUE line: aluminum profiles produced from billets made with 100% renewable energy and/or recycled content. In this way, Fabrique Invent and BOAL align seamlessly with their clients’ sustainability ambitions.

Niels: “A good example? Suppose a company wants a lightweight, modular frame for a transport system. Fabrique Invent translates the functional requirements into a smart, sustainable aluminum design, while BOAL assesses the extrusion feasibility and produces the profile within the client’s sustainability framework. Within just a few months, a scalable, sustainable product is ready for the market.”

Moving forward, together

The collaboration between Fabrique Invent and BOAL Extrusion is built on experience, trust, technical expertise, and shared sustainability goals. Looking ahead, both parties intend to continue combining their strengths for clients seeking support in developing custom aluminum profiles. Whether it’s a first idea, a design not yet tested for extrusion feasibility, or a sustainability challenge: Fabrique Invent and BOAL think along, design along and deliver solutions that work.

“In the coming period, we will highlight the collaboration between Fabrique Invent and BOAL Extrusion more visibly across different channels. After all, when you have worked together for more than 30 years on sustainable innovation, it deserves to be seen,” says Elke.
