Post-processing & finishing

FROM ALUMINIUM EXTRUSION TO APPLICATION

Aluminium extrusion is a powerful manufacturing process, but the profile is rarely the end point. In the construction sector, not only the shape matters, but also functionality, finishing and applicability. This is why post-processing is an essential part of the journey from design to application.

Through processes such as sawing, punching, milling and surface treatment, extruded profiles can be tailored to their specific role within the construction process. This improves on-site efficiency, reduces installation time and contributes to aesthetics, durability and technical performance.

Processes that make the difference

Depending on the application and the design, aluminium profiles can be provided with:

  • Sawing operations: cut-to-length profiles, mitre angles or complex saw cuts.

  • Punching operations: holes, slots or cut-outs for fixings, cable routing or ventilation.

  • Milling: precise recesses, chambers or contours for integration with other components.

  • Bending or forming: for curved applications such as façade edges or design elements.

  • Assembly preparation: snap-fit connections, screw chambers or integrated rails.

These processes are aligned with the design, the installation method and the technical requirements of the construction project.

Finishing: aesthetics and protection

In addition to functional processing, surface treatment also plays a key role. Aluminium profiles can be finished with:

  • Anodising: an electrochemical process that increases corrosion resistance and provides a matte, decorative finish.

  • Powder coating: a durable, colour-stable coating that offers protection against weathering and mechanical stress.

  • Mechanical finishing: brushing, polishing or blasting to achieve specific visual effects.

The choice of finish depends on the application (indoor or outdoor), aesthetic requirements, maintenance needs and durability criteria.

From profile to building component

By intelligently combining extrusion, post-processing and finishing, an aluminium profile is created that is not only technically sound, but also directly applicable within the construction process. This results in fewer on-site operations, faster installation and a reduced risk of costly errors. At the same time, it offers designers greater freedom and aesthetic possibilities, as functions such as fixings, cable routing or drainage channels can already be integrated into the profile. Moreover, this approach aligns seamlessly with sustainability objectives and EPD strategies, as material usage is optimised and the construction process becomes more efficient. Not details, but strategic advantages for designers and builders alike.

Every detail matters.

All processes are carefully aligned with the design, the installation method and the technical requirements of your construction project. This ensures that aluminium not only fits, but performs.
